MAY BANK HOLIDAY OPEN TROPHY MEETING
6-7th May 2012 @ Talsarn
Report: Matthew Garratt,

While the rest of the country was knee deep in flood water, the valley of Talsarn motopark was in its own weather climate for the May bank holiday with riders experiencing ‘dust’ on the track for Sunday, and with only a small rain shower falling early Monday morning meant near perfect riding conditions for Monday!
DLMX witnessed some of its best ever quad racing, with Luke Cooper in the Expert Quad class really putting pressure on the Hammersley brothers, who at one point were side by side going over the big tabletop in full flight! Simon Hammersley managed a spectacular ‘Off’ after borrowing his father’s quad on the second day, only to snap a front suspension ball joint! The quads in fact proved 5 seconds, yes 5 seconds a lap faster than the Solo Experts!
The Quad B class also lived up to expectations with Liz Price beating all the boys on the first day; however mechanical problems let her down for day 2. Well done also to Mark Moseley, achieving his best ever placing in the club. The Blaster class also saw some great battles, with Dafydd Davies and Rhys Brown hard at it for the 1st and 2nd spot. Catrin Davies was in a class of her own in the 100 quad class, showing the boys how it’s done.
And onto the solo’s.... with some of the big names away, the field was left open for the taking. Well done to Jamie Isherwood, who’s consistent riding earned him 1st overall, followed by Cory White in 2nd who had 3 consecutive race wins on the 2nd day. Duggie Jamieson was pleased his big brother went home on the Monday, as he scooped the final place on the podium.
The top quarter of the Solo B’s was more like a 2 stroke class, with Aled Evans storming the group with 6 clear wins on his YZ 250, followed by Tom Barber and Jonathan Murvai in 2nd and 3rd spots both aboard RM 250’s.
The Solo C class was as always home to some entertaining racing, with Simon Absolam taking top place on the podium followed closely by Dylan Griffiths and Josh Phillips. Well done to Julian Harron in 6th place who travelled all the way down from Leicester to race with the club.
The youth classes provided some great bank holiday racing with Luke Heath proving the man to catch in the 125 youth class, with Bradley Davies and Scott Phillips battling hard for 2nd and 3rd places. The combined 85cc class saw a 1 – 2 of Cai Grocott and Jordan Williams in the big wheel group, whilst Connor Wilson put in some great results to earn himself 1st overall in the small wheel class, with Mikey Pathew and Jake Rowlands runners up.
The 65cc class saw a good turnout, with all riders receiving a trophey for their 2 days work. Calum Watson, who dominated the class on day 1 with 3 straight wins brought home a 1st place trophy, with Elis Orchard and Tyler Thomas finishing 2nd and 3rd overall.
